NFL Linebacker Logan Wilson Announces Retirement

Linebacker Logan Wilson, who has played his entire NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals, announced his retirement from the league on Wednesday at age 29 via his Instagram account.

Wilson was selected by the Bengals in the third round, 65th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Wyoming.[1][2] Born July 9, 1997, in Casper, Wyoming, he appeared in 12 games with two starts as a rookie in 2020.[3]

In his Instagram post, Wilson stated: "After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to officially retire from the NFL. From being a Wyoming kid with big dreams to hearing my name called in the 3rd round of the 2020 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals… football gave me more than I ever could have imagined."

He highlighted his time in Cincinnati, including the 2021 playoff run. Wilson intercepted a pass from Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill with 34 seconds left to seal a 19-16 divisional-round victory over Tennessee on January 22, 2022.[4][5] The Bengals went on to win the AFC Championship over the Kansas City Chiefs before falling to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

Wilson recorded 100 or more tackles in each season from 2021 to 2023.[3] Through 17 games in 2024, he has registered 107 combined tackles, 1.0 sack, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass defensed.[3] Career totals through Week 10 of 2024: 579 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 5 interceptions, 19 passes defensed, and 2 forced fumbles in 78 games (64 starts).[3]

"Cincinnati will always mean a lot to me," Wilson wrote. "Who Dey forever. 55 out."
