Darby Allin stakes MJF's hair on world title rematch

All Elite Wrestling world champion Darby Allin challenged Maxwell Jacob Friedman to a title versus hair match after defending his belt against TNT champion Kevin Knight. Allin rejected MJF's offers of his scarf, Dynamite diamond ring and $1 million for a rematch, instead demanding MJF risk his hair. A contract signing for the bout is set ahead of the Double or Nothing event.

The episode opened with a tribute to Ted Turner following his death at age 87. AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone and Sting praised Turner's role in professional wrestling after he launched TBS and TNT, acquired World Championship Wrestling and built a promotion that competed with WWE in television ratings during the 1990s.

Allin secured his third successful world title defense against Knight, who won the TNT championship in a casino gauntlet match at Dynasty. The pair traded submission holds, clotheslines and high-risk maneuvers including Allin's Code Red, suicide dive and Coffin Drops along with Knight's coast-to-coast dropkick and UFO. Allin locked in a Scorpion Death Lock and finished with two Coffin Drops.

Kazuchika Okada declared his pursuit of the AEW world championship and will challenge Allin next week. Meanwhile, Will Ospreay continued training at the Death Riders dojo despite tensions with the group. After competing in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ospreay faced verbal barbs from Daniel Garcia and motivation from Jon Moxley on embracing "death ground" to strengthen his injured neck. Samoa Joe urged Ospreay to join The Opps for sustained success, and an AEW doctor noted Ospreay nears clearance to compete.

Chris Jericho demanded a fight with Ricochet after an ambush by The Demand, leading to a proposed stadium stampede match at Double or Nothing in Louis Armstrong Stadium, Queens, New York. Ricochet needs four partners or faces Jericho alone. Swerve Strickland expressed ambitions for greater power by destroying Bandido's "most wanted" poster, drawing responses from Ring of Honor world champion Bandido and Brody King.
